Titanfall gets its own limited-edition Xbox One controller

Xbox One owners can snag a limited-edition controller themed around upcoming mech shooter Titanfall, Microsoft announced today.

Designed by developer Respawn Entertainment in collaboration with the Xbox design team, the controller is designed to resemble the C-101 carbine, a weapon used by the pilots of elite Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation titans within the game.

The Titanfall Limited Edition Wireless Controller will be available for purchase alongside the game at launch. The controller costs $64.99 and is currently available for pre-order through the Microsoft Store.

In a post on his blog, Microsoft’s Larry Hryb wrote that Respawn lead artist Joel Emslie said the goal was “to create a controller that feels as if it is a piece of military spec hardware transported from the universe of Titanfall and into players’ hands.”

Titanfall will launch on March 11 in North America and March 13 in Europe. Earlier this month, Respawn confirmed with Polygon that maps will hold up to 50 combatants, including players, AI and titans.

Battlefield 4 patch hits Xbox One today fixing stability and reducing corrupt saves

EA DICE is deploying a Battlefield 4 update for the Xbox One today, according to a post on the Battlelog forums, improving general stability, reducing the corruption of single-player save files and more.

The patch will introduce bug fixes for numerous issues such the friendly marker not always showing when needed to, killer health in kill card not being correctly updated, soldier health showing 1 HP in killcard instead of 0 HP and a feedback timing issue where blood was appearing before other damage indicators.

The Stealth Jet 20mm cannons damage will be increased by 25 percent with the update and repair rates across all vehicles will be normalized so vehicles with lower health points will repair more slowly than before. Camera bug fixes addressed include an issue where the M1 Abrams Coaxial HMG ammo box was occasionally blocking the driver’s camera and a glitch when switching weapons while moving in crouch.

The full list of Battlefield 4 patch notes for the Xbox One are detailed on the Battlelog forums. The Xbox One update follows roll outs to Windows PC, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions of Battlefield 4 earlier this week.

Fight In Style With The Xbox One Titanfall Limited Edition Wireless Controller

One of the best things about big game releases is the great Limited Edition gear that comes along with them. The upcoming release of Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment’s highly anticipated shooter “Titanfall” for Xbox One is the biggest of them all, which is why we’re so excited to unveil a must-have commemorative companion to the game. The Xbox One “Titanfall” Limited Edition Wireless Controller is the perfect way to mark the debut of “Titanfall” on the Xbox One.

“In a collaborative effort with the Xbox design team and the Respawn art department, our goal was to create a controller that feels as if it is a piece of military spec hardware transported from the universe of Titanfall and into players hands,” stated Joel Emslie, Lead Artist at Respawn Entertainment.

Designed by Respawn Entertainment, the sleek controller was inspired by the C-101 carbine, used by the elite IMC Titan pilots of the Frontier. Crafted in striking detail for maximum authenticity in color and graphics, it looks and feels like an artifact from the world of “Titanfall” and is a must-have for every “Titanfall” fan.

Winner of more than 80 coveted awards from critics around the world, “Titanfall” has been recognized as one of the most anticipated games of 2014 by MTV, Yahoo! Games, CNN Money and Forbes. “Titanfall” is the first original shooter on next-gen and is winning over fans with its thrilling, dynamic first-person action gameplay featuring elite assault pilots and agile, heavily-armored, 24-foot titans.

The Xbox One “Titanfall” Limited Edition Wireless Controller will be available worldwide in time for the launch of “Titanfall” on March 11, 2014 in North America and beginning March 13, 2014 in Europe.

Getting the Most Out of Your Xbox One and Microsoft Surface

If you’ve got an Xbox One, you probably already know that, in addition to playing great games, the console offers a wide range of built-in entertainment and media options. But did you know how nicely the Xbox One interacts with your Surface tablet? If you’re a fan of both, you owe it to yourself to take a closer look at the “Xbox One Tips and Tricks” video from Sean Ong.

Sean, a 28 year-old clean energy engineer, husband, and father of two from Seattle, Wash., has been making videos about Surface for a while now, including his “Why I Love My Surface 2” video that’s garnered over 225,000 views since it went up in November of 2013. However, it wasn’t until recently that he decided to take a stab at a video incorporating both his Xbox One and Surface. “Many of my viewers were most interested in the Xbox integration part of my Surface videos, so I decided to make a new video that was more Xbox-centric. I was blown away at the many possibilities of having the HDMI input on the Xbox One.”

As you’ll see in the video at the top of this article, Sean provides a number of tips and tricks that the average user might not have known were possible without a good deal of internet digging. While he discovered many of them on his own simply by experimenting (or “playing around,” as he puts it) with his Xbox One, he did have a bit of outside help. “I learned about the TV converter box from onlysublime – who I mention in my video and provide a link to in my video description. I also learned about the home button double-tap trick and keyboard trick from others on Reddit.”

While there are a ton of great tips in the video, the big question is which one is Sean’s favorite. “Hands down, it’s the ability to cast audio and video to my Xbox One (the “play to” functionality) from my Surface. I use that all the time!” Perhaps not surprisingly given his love of technology, he also really likes all of the built-in TV functionality the Xbox One offers. “Controlling over the air TV with my voice is pretty sweet, too. Right now, the bulk of my time on the Xbox One is actually spent on TV, movies, music, and apps – but I’m forecasting a dramatic shift to gaming as more titles become available in 2014 and beyond!”

It’s clear that Sean is a fan of both his Surface and his Xbox One, but we couldn’t help asking if we should expect a Windows Phone video in the near future to round out the device trifecta. “My wife just got a Nokia Windows Phone and I have to admit – it’s really tempting. I love to tinker with technology – so she’s wise to keep her phone away from me for now.”

Hopefully Sean’s video taught you a few new ways to get the most out of the combined power of your Xbox One and Surface. To keep up-to-date on Sean’s video offerings, be sure to subscribe to his YouTube channel or follow him on Twitter.
